Sun Tzu Art of War In Talent Retention

Collective wisdom from Sun Tzu’s Art of War offers many valuable insights for the HR and OD Leaders today. Talent War and Talent Retention is fierce, and many HR leaders are challenged today. With attrition going up to 30-50 % today in some industries,  this need to be addressed without delay and is the top priorities of many HR/OD  leaders today.

Competition for talents and talent retention are always there. Both strive for winning position by defeating their competitors while defending themselves. Organizations must be well organized, have balanced employees’ welfare program and able to strike good work life harmony. Leadership style of organization has equally  important influence on the shaping of success on Talent Retention.

Sun Tzu once said, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Even highly engaged employees will lose their zest for work if these issues are allowed to persist, and eventually, they will leave your organization if improvements are not made.

"People Join Organisations
  But LEAVE the  Managers "

Speaker - Dr. PRATIK. P. SURANA (PH.D)

In the era, which is full of uncertainty and volatility, the leadership role becomes more challenging , especially when it comes to leading and managing your teams post pandemic effect, amidst great resignation and industry 4.0.

The emotional connect between people, interpersonal relationships and having empathy acts as a must tool for engaging and retaining good talent. An interim CEO who must enter a troubled organization and jettison major pieces of the company requires the cool headedness and facing  a team of an aggressive technical specialists. How can the interim CEO engage such aggressiveness yet stay calm?

Leaders with high Emotional Intelligence ( EI) will build real social fabric within an organization, and between an organization and those it serves, whereas those low in EI may tend to create problems for the organization through their individual behaviours.

As Darwin had said, the species who adapt the fastest , least likely to face extinction.

Case studies will be shared to show it is imperative to develop Organization Leaders and People Manager with High Emotional intelligence to enhance talent retention during post-pandemic, Big Resignation, and any on-going disruptive economy.
